Finca Passiflora

Our finca is registered as an organic farm with CRAE: # 3930P. Since 2015 we have been working on establishing ecological agroculture. We are producing bananas, mangoes, cherimoya, other fruits and vegetables for own use and sale.

Surroundings

Tenerife offers diverse climates and varied geography, it's practically a continent in miniature. The finca is located in the north of Tenerife, near Buenavista. It's a bit cooler and wetter here, than in the south or west of the island; this can be very pleasant during summer. Interesting places in the north are Buenavista, Icod and Puerto de la Cruz. There are hiking and swimming opportunities. One can easily reach the west or south with more bathing and excursion possibilities.

Shopping

The best shopping possibilities are in Icod, Puerto de la Cruz, La Laguna and Santa Cruz. Organic food is mainly found in Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz.
The "Mercado Nuestra Señora de África" is particularly interesting. Fresh food is plentiful there, including some organic stands. We know most markets and have good contacts with local producers of fruit, salads and vegetables and honey.

Connection

There is a well developed public transport system. However, our finca is in a rural area and the connections are not as good as in cities. So you should rent a car or bring it with you. There are also possibilities for bike trips; the main road from Buenavista to Garachico is declared a bicycle road. We are on the mountainous island, so there are many inclines; you should bring good physical condition or an e-bike.

Accommodation

We can rent 2 rooms on the finca. A larger one for up to 4 people and a smaller one for 1-2 people. In the smaller room there is a narrow bunk bed and a sofa bed. In the larger room there are a wide bunk bed and 2 beds.

All rooms have electricity and internet. There is a separate bathroom with a small kitchen. All power cables and plumbing are routed outside the rooms.


If you are interested, there is also the possibility to set up tents within the finca.

Views

From the finca you can see the Teide and the interesting hilly landscape of Buenavista.

Insights

Due to the special subtropical climate of Isla Baja, we can grow fruits and vegetables from many climate zones. We use the special topography of the finca to position plants according to their needs. Therefore we can combine European, subtropical and tropical plants in the sense of agro-forestry. We regularly harvest ripe bananas and, depending on the season, grenadilla, passion fruit, mangoes or cherimoya. During the summer we also have particularly tasty watermelons. Prickly pears and figs, almonds and much more also grow on the island.

Dogs

There are currently 5 dogs living on the finca. They love excursions and accompany us while hiking.

Excursions

Tenerife offers interesting and varied hiking trails. Since we are living here for some years, we know many of them. We are also open to suggestions and new ideas. If you are interested, we can also go hiking together. Preferred destinations would be the north and west, in Teno, Icod, Los Realejos, Puerto de la Cruz, or in other areas of the island (Anaga, Santa Cruz, Teresitas, La Laguna, Esperanza,.. .) depending on interest and possibilities. Solid outdoor gear and enough water are essential for most tours. Depending on the season and route, there are many photo opportunities; Mountains, flowers, animals, people, picturesque estates... don't forget your camera or smartphone!
